With our ethos being a sustainable swimwear brand, we want your pieces to last. On our end, we have sourced our sustainable fabric and hand make swimsuits from  ECONYL® regenerated nylon.

ECONYL® is created from recycling unwanted waste from around the world, such as fishing nets pulled from the ocean, plastic and fabric scraps.

If treated well, your Mitra The Label swimwear will continue to support you for years to come in any ocean, any beach and in any pool. Once it leaves Mitra The Label HQ, we need you to carry on caring for your own piece. Follow our recommendations and your pieces will last for those moments by the water:

  • Sea salt and chlorine are both harsh cleaning agents on materials, so we recommend washing your piece after you wear it. Simply take a shower after a swim in cold freshwater then laying the piece flat to dry.

  • In the event your suit is in need of a really good clean, please wash it by hand in as cool temperature if possible. If using a machine, a short delicate wash is preferable, keeping the temperature below 30 degrees. Wash inside out with similar colours.

  • Try to keep out of direct sunlight and try to avoid letting your swimsuit remain cold and damp after you use it in the pool.

  • Please DON'T iron your swimsuit and avoid tumble drying too.

  • Aim to apply suncream before you put the pieces on, as suncream is designed for the skin, not swimsuits. Our swimsuits already have excellent UV protection and are ultra chlorine resistant.

Producing swimwear from regenerated ocean plastic does run the risk of releasing tiny micro-fibres into the water system when washing our pieces. To combat this issue we suggest and encourage our customers to use a GuppyFriend bag or something similar to help capture micro-plastic fibres. Simply wash your swimwear in the bag and hand wash your swimsuits, if you want to use a washing machine, we suggest using a cold wash setting.
